Mickey

Violinist, Pianist, Accordionist, Guitarist, Banjo-ist, Juggler, Clown, Writer, Composer, Songwriter, Actor, and Bandleader Fiddlin’ Mickey wears many hats, and sometimes hats on hats. He was born in a small town in the Ozarks to a family of Hungarian musicians and Irish potato farmers. Inspired by Woody Guthrie and Jack Kerouac he hoboed around the U.S. for some years with just a fiddle, a guitar, and a head-full of songs. Since establishing himself in San Francisco he has also traveled extensively in Romania, Hungary, and Serbia to study, collect music and perform. In the Bay, he may be found gracing the stage with ensembles such the Sour Mash Hug Band, the Yiddish Serenaders, Sharmanka, the Black Hats, and the Secret Cirkus. On stage he has appeared recently as actor, juggler, or puppeteer at the Lucid Dream Lounge, in a CSU East Bay production of Alice in Wonderland, and with the Secret Cirkus. Catch Mickey’s multi-instrumental virtuousity and dream-inspired songwriting in the Bay or touring up and down the West Coast, in New York, New Orleans or Austin.
